1. Who We Are

ParlezApp is a French language learning application operated by ParlezApp, located at 1235 Bay Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, contact us at info@parlezapp.com.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, including:

  • Account information: your name and email address when you register
  • Authentication data: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google
  • Learning activity: lessons completed, AI conversation sessions, progress scores, and streaks
  • Payment information: processed securely by Stripe — we do not store card numbers
  • Voice input: audio from AI conversation practice sessions, processed in real time and not stored permanently
  • Student memory: personal details you share during AI conversation sessions (e.g. your name, job, interests) stored to personalize future sessions. This data is linked to your account and can be deleted on request.
  • Assessment attempts: records of official assessments taken, including level, score, pass/fail status, and date.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and improve the ParlezApp service
  • Personalize your learning experience and track your progress
  • Process payments and manage your subscription
  • Send service-related communications (account confirmations, receipts)
  • Respond to your support requests

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Google Sign-In

If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo as provided by Google. We use this information solely to create and manage your ParlezApp account. We do not access your Google Drive, Gmail, contacts, or any other Google services. Your use of Google Sign-In is also governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a hosted database platform with industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit. We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information, but no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and maintain your session. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. We may use analytics tools to understand how the app is used in aggregate, without identifying individual users. We also use Cloudflare Turnstile on our signup form to protect against automated abuse. This process does not collect or store any personal information.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Withdraw consent at any time

8. How We Use Your Data to Improve ParlezApp

With your consent — given at onboarding and removable at any time in Settings → Données & confidentialité — anonymized conversation data may be used to improve our AI teachers and curriculum.

"Anonymized" means: your name, email, and personal identity are fully removed. Only linguistic patterns are retained — grammar errors, vocabulary usage, pronunciation patterns. This data is linked to a random UUID only, never to any identifying information.

  • Anonymous session analytics: practice duration, topics, level, session type, and engagement patterns — never linked to your name or email.
  • Anonymized conversation data (with consent): linguistic patterns from AI conversation sessions, used to improve teaching quality for all learners. Personal identity is fully stripped before any data is used for this purpose.
  • Error patterns: grammar and pronunciation errors identified during AI sessions, stored anonymously to personalize your coaching and improve our AI teachers.

You can withdraw your consent at any time in Settings → Données & confidentialité. Withdrawing consent has no effect on your account or features — you simply opt out of contributing to product improvement. We never sell data or share identifiable data with third parties.

9. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate ParlezApp:

  • Supabase — database and authentication (data stored in Canada/US)
  • Google (Gemini AI) — powers our AI French teacher conversations
  • Cloudflare — security, CDN, and bot protection (including Turnstile CAPTCHA on signup)
  • Stripe — payment processing (we never store your card details)
  • Resend — transactional email delivery
  • Cloudflare R2 — audio content storage

Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing their data practices.

10. Children's Privacy

ParlezApp is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by posting a notice in the app. Continued use of ParlezApp after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
